There is no doubt that Oetz, Austria, is one of my favorite places in the world. One of the most gorgeous valleys, epic mountains, and of course, great kayaking. Oetz used to be home to the Sickline race, which was one of the more challenging events, as well as one of my favorites. It is not the biggest whitewater, but the course has a lot of technical moves, and a lot of fast people that show up. It was one of my favorite events to come out and get laps on laps throughout the week trying to get as dialed as possible. Unfortunately 2017 was the last year the Sickline race happened, as they stopped putting it on afterwards. So it has been a bummer to not have an event happening in Oetz for the last 4 years. Although now the wait is finally over as another race is in town, called the Oetz Trophy. I am finally back in the valley, and ready to train hard, cause the event is just a few days out!
